WHAT'S NEW

AFIRMA®

Samples for Afirma® testing are collected in transport medium and the refrigerated specimen is air-freighted (Fed Ex) to Veracyte Inc in San Francisco, USA.  Results are available  in two weeks. 

THYROGLOBULIN ASSAY ON NEEDLE RINSE

The needle rinse from all lymph nodes  biopsies in patients with suspected  thyroid cancer is routinely tested for thyroglobulin.

ZIMMER CRYO

Brief, fast, intense cooling of the skin with Zimmer Cryo 6 is used to anaesthetise the skin prior to fine needle biopsy.
